Got the above recorder for about a year, haven't used it for a while. When I turned it on, I found it say M-CHK CABLE on the display. Annoyed by that seeking over the net I found a solution but for the some LG branded recorder. I have entered service menu by holding up and down on the device and changed the opcodes suggested for LG, by the remote. However when I rebooted my Hitachi was LG branded. LG logo appeared and remote stopped working. M-CHK CABLE however disappeared but recorder is not working properly because even without remote I can't scroll through the menu--that still looks OK.

Any advice will be appreciated.
