I have PowerDVD 8 installed on my system (running Windows XP).

I keep getting the dialog pop-up that says there is a patch that I need to download. I have did this once before and it caused all manner of problems (problems I didn't have before I patched).

I have now done a fresh re-install and need to know how to remove this annoying pop-up that prompts me to download the patch. There is no option in the settings menu itself so if I need to edit a system file, I'm willing to do that.

I have already tried just clicking on it and then not downloading the patch but the notice regenerates after awhile.

    Thanks!

  2. When you start power dvd 3 exe starts first set firewall such so none can connect to internet. Google for Autorun and sysinternals it is a microsoft website download and run Autorun (it is free), it shows everything that runs and starts on your computer then look under run section or just browse all of them and look for the publishers anything that is under Cyberlink belongs to power dvd uncheck all except powerdvd.exe Autorun is safe you can always go back and check things. Reboot and depending on your firewall/defense only allow powerdvd.exe and one help file that belongs to powerdvd to start. Run a movie make sure it works OK then you can rename those registration/update exe's. These kind of software they have spyware they continuously try to change your TCP ip parameters to bypass your internet security. Themselves don't call it spyware they offer!! you update and want to enhance your watching experience ...
