I called the tech support number for my particular dvd player and they suggested using a blue or a green cdr but wouldn't really elaborate on why. They simply said you'll have more luck with them. Can anyone comment on this recommendation? Thanks.

Basically, the colour of the writing side of the cd is linked to the type of dye used to make the cd, and also to the reflectivity of the writing surface. Both of these can effect how the data on the cd is picked up by the laser.
