Hi,
I made a VCD with a menu containing 17 music video clips with Easy CD Creator Platinum 5.0. When playing back the VCD in Easy CD Creator everything worked perfect and also the burning went OK. But, when I play it back in my stand-alone DVD player it first seems to work fine, you get the start sequence and then the menu. But the strange thing is that only the first two videoclips can be played. When I select the other clips with my remote control, they won't play, it just keeps on showing the menu.
Now, when I look at the .DAT files on the VCD, they are all in the right folder (MPEGAV), but when I change the extentions of the DAT files in .MPG only the first two clips can be played (the same clips that also play in my DVD-player) , the rest gives an error (no combination of filters can be found...blablabla). Those are the same clips that won't play on my DVD-player.
But the strange thing is that I encoded ALL of the clips EXACTLY the same way with TMPGEnc, using the SAME template.
What is the problem here? Please can anyone help me, because I already waisted 6!!! CD-R's because of this...
Thanx a LOT..!

I had the same issue: First 3 or 4 played, then the disc "hung" or froze and stopped. Others in their reviews of EZCD had the same issue. I tried Nero 5.5 and that works like a charm: is intuitive, well-designed software.

Things get even stranger... I tried to play the VCD again and this time clip #3 DID play ok (while it didn't the first time), but the other clips still didn't play. I took the DVD out of the player and put it back in. After I did this, this same clip #3 DID NOT PLAY anymore...
This doesn't make ANY sense to me at all! You would expect it would play the same everytime you play it cause it's still the same CD and nothing's changed.
Oh yeah, Another thing I found out... In the manual of my DVD-player (Pioneer DV-717) it says that it plays VCD's, but it also says 'max. 74 minutes'.
Does this mean that it can't play 80 minute CD's, cause Í burned it on a 80 Minute CD. Could this maybe the problem of all of this....? -
sounds like your player is having problems reading the VCD you just burned, which leads me to believe it is one or more things in your burning process:
1 - disc (brand, cd-r/rw, defective, unsupported)
2 - burning software (nero vs EZ-CD)
3 - burner (going bad?)
4 - burning speed (8x, 6x, 4x, 2x)
did i leave anything out?

i've read that after playing a disc in some of the "hotter" players, the heat has a tendency of affecting play, even with certain DVDs. the disc (usually DVD or VCD) will play fine in the beginning but as it continues to spin in the player and heats up, it's characteristics will change ever so slightly but just enough to cause a problem for THAT DISC in THAT PLAYER!
another thing, if your player does not OFFICIALLY support CD-R media, the higher output of the DVD tuned laser can actually alter/damage the data on a CD-R disc.

YEAH YEAH!
I am sorry you people have this problem, but I am also glad that I am not the only one.
Its GOTTA be a problem with EASY CD CREATOR. I can only get to play the first few tracks on my music VCD and then it crashes, strangly though, it is fine on my PC.
Anyway, I am deffo attributing this problem to EASE CD CREATOR since you lot have reported it too.
Time to find new burning software, any recommendations?
Ta!

You MUST use NERO 5.5, writen up in this website and I have used it to GREAT success. EZ Creator no good.
