    Greetings,

For the first time I have a MPEG-2 dvd compliant file that's too big for a single layer dvd.

My goal is to preserve quality to the fullest extent possible although I realize some sacrifice will have to be made.

Do I have only 4.37 gigs to work with or anything greater? Sorry for such a basic question but it has to me asked for my own understanding.

What tools, processes and guides out there would show me step by step how to fit a 5-6 gig file on a 4.37 gig disc?

What do you use and how good of a job does it do? Just wondering what my options are out of necessity.

Thanks so much in advance for any input, tips and recomendations.

  2. Only 4.37 GB. Shrink it easy and fast with DVD Shrink (assuming it's already a DVD). Shrink it better and more slowly using DVD-Rebuilder (assuming it's already a DVD). Do it manually and best of all by learning how to feed an AviSynth script into an MPEG-2 encoder followed by authoring it to DVD.

This assumes it's still oversized after having removed the junk you don't want, such as extraneous audio, logos, warnings, extras and anything else you might not want to keep from the original retail DVD (if that's your source).

Rather than us spoonfeeding everything to you, why not take some initiative and read some of the guides to be found here on this site?
