Interesting results.
Reinforces my decision to dump Norton, then McAfee, then AVG, currently on Avira AntiVir.

I think if you're using any of the programs above 90%, just stick with what you're using. Any of them should provide adequate protection and from what I've seen, the rankings within that group can shift around on any given day for any given test by any given tester.

Virtually every AV will have some anti-spyware component now. It's isn't an effort to go all-in-one. It's the result of the line between virus and spyware blurring. A lot of malicious code has elements of both virus and spyware in it now so a scanner has to be able to pick up both.

Get used to security suites being the norm; not only do they command higher subscription fees, but by integrating antivirus, antispyware, antispam, firewall, and more in some cases, the vendor eliminates competition. Sure, you can add a second opinion AV or ASW application and I believe it makes sense to do so, but it won't have the same level of real or perceived importance as what is chosen as the first line of defense. There are a lot of people who just don't want to be bothered with individual choices. The security suite promises all you will need to stay protected and eliminates the possibility of potential conflicts (if you believe the advertising).
