I bought an album via HMV several years ago. I am now trying to play/burn these files to a cd but due to the DRM, I am unable to do this.

Is there any software which will allow me to 'bypass' the DRM on these files?

Thanks in advance for any help.

tunebite is payware that should work for realtime copying to another file. Then burn the other file.

One thing to check - I'm not sure what hmv is but I would hazard a guess they'd let you burn a cd with their own software since this was purchased material (assuming they have some kind of special propreitary media suite).

If not you'll have to do realtime dubbing ala tunebite or similar software. There are other methods to bypassing drm.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I can't even play the files since the licence is no longer available.

HMV is a music retailer from UK. I have emailed them re this problem. Apparently, since I purchased this album, they have had a complete overhaul of the site so I fear they may not have record of the purchase.

if you can't play(unlock the drm) then they are just trash. it happens all the time when any drm remote server is taken offline. there just isn't any way to recover the files without unscrambling them first.

from now on, join the enlightened folks who refuse to buy any drm encoded files.
