    my parents got their wedding video captured from a pal videotape onto a ntsc dvd i was wondering what way can i capture it onto my pc so i can edit it on Vegas

  2. you can use vob2mpg to convert it to one mpg-2. vegas will import it, but not like it much. it's not really a good mpeg-2 editor. you might try something like womble mpeg wizard.

  3. You should be able to copy with DVD Decrypter into a single VOB file and import it directly into Vegas. The video likely has AC3 audio so if you don't have the AC3 plugin for Vegas you'll need it to be able to read the audio.

    I've always had trouble with this, so I would not recommend it. Vegas will import the VOB, but it sucks at keeping the audio in sync.

    If you really want to edit it in Vegas, I would convert to AVI using VirtualDubMod. Remember that when you enocode back to DVD, you will loose quality.

    If all you want to do is minor cuts, etc, Vegas may not be the right tool for you. Womble would be more appropriate.
