    Hi,
    Recently I've bough a JVC GR D870 camcorder NTSC version. Currently i'm converting all capture video from NTSC to PAL. Recently I've seen the same model being sold as PAL (at least from the spec it looks the same).
    And I'm wondering it is possible to change the camera to PAL via firmware upgrade or it is a hardware issue?

    I never heard anyone to succeed this.
    Is unlikely.

    It can be done on some camcorders (a Canon XL something springs to mind). On others, though, there are some hardware-specific items. On my PDX-10, one of the circuit boards comes in either NTSC or PAL.

    Best bet is to Google on NTSC to PAL mods for your specific model.

    I didn't find anything official from JVC on this, I will try searching for such updating info.
