problems making vcd

I have a plextor 16/10/40A and am using nero to make my vcd to play on my philips dvd701, a friend of mine made a vcd for me that works perfectly, but even after i read the tutorial i still cant make a vcd. I followed the tutorial to the letter, the only thing i can think of is either my drive, which i think unlikely or my media, which is more likely the culprit, any suggestions? the media i have been using is tdk

I have Plextor 24/10/40A and Nero and it works perfect to make VCDs... Im using Cursor Colorful CDr (80min) and have never had a problem
