    I've tried the hack listed endlessly, but it seems to very much not work for me - have they updated their firmware or something? Does anyone have any alternate hacks?

    Yes, hacks stop working sometimes due to hardware changes. That's probably what happened here. Good luck. Sometimes people here do get lucky and someone posts a new working hack to replace one that no longer works, but most of these requests don't have a happy ending.
