i am trying to burn a dvd from my hard drive but, wen i put the dvd disk in it's not being picked up by any of my programs. i just updated all my drives and was thinking that could be the problem but, i'm not sure how to fix it. i really need to fix this because i burn docs to cd andif it's not working with the dvds then it's not going to work on a data cd so, plzz help...ty

If the drives were replaced (ie: new hardware / different models) then the burning software won't see them without rescanning the system to look for new drives. The only software that I know that has a rescan option is Alcohol 120%. Other software (Nero, Roxio, etc.) will likely need to be uninstalled and reinstalled as the scan process is part of the installation.
Otherwise, we need more information. What exactly did you update? Can the drives read any other disc (software CD's or store bought movie DVD's)?
And it is entirely possible for the drive to recognize CD's or DVD's and not the other.Google is your Friend
