Can I remove avi container added by mencoder.

If I use mencoder in its simplest form :

mencoder in.mpg -o "out.avi" -oac copy -ovc copy

it will not re-encode but just put an avi container on the mpg and do things like remove duplicate frames.

Is there way to

A) Remove the avi container so it is now an mpg.

or

B) Use mencoder without it creating the avi container in the first place.

?
