  1. I want to buy a HDTV to play the divx movies that I d/l. What's the biggest HDTV I can get so that the shows I get still look good. The files are typically 624x352. I plan to use a divx/dvd player w/ upconvert and HDMI cable.

I heard these files don't look good on a 42". Will they still look good on a 32" or 37"?

It all depends on your definition and your eyes.

I have an 50" HD plasma, and even some of my old SVCD look decent (to me). Of course HD content and Blu-ray discs look outstanding.

A lot of downloaded Divx/Xvid look rubbish on 19 inch monitor. Some players also play them back much better than others. My Pioneer has a number of filters that improve the quality by reducing artifacts, where the LG just plays them as-is. Standard Divx home theatre profile encoding is not a HD medium, and showing them on an LCD TV in particular, but any TV in general shows up the (many) flaws. If you are encoding the files yourself at a suitable bitrate then you can get good quality. But anything you download will be comparatively low quality, and will look it. Frankly, if you are buying a HD TV to watch 700MB downloaded files, you are just wasting your time and money.
