  1. Whats the compatiblity of Black dye CD-R with VCDs and the such and Standalone DVD players. Will they play as normal Silver or Diamond would? And would anyone recommend buying some?
    Thanks

  3. I saw this:

"Black discs are generally accepted to be on par with standard silver discs in both reliability and longevity."

As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  4. I am new on the scene. I have personally seen the black disc you are talking about, they're suppost to protect the data from UV damage, and scratches with the black coating on the bottom side. I would never leave the disk out in sunlight. I personally never tried it myself, I find the prices are running a bit high right now.

I found lots of problems with Notebook CD drives
I produced a lot of demonstration video CD all on black discs
They worked great on desktops but failed to read correctly on 4 different brand notebooks
Just after that I thought I'd try one of the discs in my DVD players
My Pioneer 535 read it OK, but my Palsonic DVD3000 failed to read without the picture breaking up into macroblocks

have tried the blacks. Worked fine in a pioneer, panasonic, & philips player. They also work great for audio cds. Used them in portable units, car head units, and home stereo. Never had a problem with the blacks other then the price. And I to have heard they are comparable to silver.
