I ripped a DVD w/ DVD Decrypter. How can/should I extract a lossless segment? Thank you!

  2. Hi-

One way is to open the VOB containing the segment you want in MPEG2Cut and use the [ and ] buttons to isolate the section you want, before saving it. There are lots of other programs that can cut VOBs, though.

If you want an entire chapter, you can use DVD Decrypter on IFO Mode and select just the chapter you want.

You could also use Womble or VideoRedo, or use DVD Shrink in re-author mode to isolate the section you want into a single VOB, then use VOB2MPG to extract it.

What do you need the segment for, and in what format ?

What is the best format for a lossless extraction, MPEG2? MPEG2 would be fine. I want the audio preserved, mostly. Thanks again!

What's wrong with just using Shrink in re-author mode for the extraction ? That's lossless, isn't it ?
When in Las Vegas, don't miss the Pinball Hall of Fame Museum http://www.pinballmuseum.org/ -- with over 150 tables from 6+ decades of this quintessentially American art form.

I used DVD Shrink on Re-author, but I had to load a DVD Decrypted VIDEO_TS - for some reason DVD Decrypter on IFO Mode could not see the second feature, the one from which I wanted to extract a scene (2 films on one DVD). Neither could DVD Shrink in Re-author mode see the second feature looking on the original disc. Good helps. Thanks all!

DVD Shrink cant extract the video (i.e. it can't demux). What it can do is give you a VOB structure with just the sections you want in them, after which you can demux with a different tool.
