Adjusting Playback speed?

I need to adjust the playback speed on an .avi (divx 4).

Quicktime Pro's slider isn't precise enough for my needs, and I need to be able then drop the file into Visual Hub (or just use visual hub to change it if possible).

Are you just talking about the Playback of the file in the Player,
or about adjusting the speed of the frames in the file itself?

IF you adjust the Playback of the file in Quicktime Player, it will
not transfer over into Visual Hub. It will still play normal when transferred
to Visual Hub.

If you adjust the speed of the frames, also known as undercranking,
you will affect the file itself and make the whole file play faster,
because your are adjusting the timing of the frames.
FCE and FCP can do this, I haven't used iMovie in a long time
to know if it will allow this.

I don't know the terms. The video plays too slowly..endoded as if in slow motion. (not drasticly mind you...it's just a tidge too slow).

oh, ok. so the video itself moves slowly,
and motion within the video is slow
( like people taking longer than normal to
talk or move), but playback ( progress of time, ie. the clock)
counts as normal in the player (VLC, Quicktime Pro)?

then you would need to re-adjust the speed of the frames
as I described above.
