Comments here: https://www.videohelp.com/dvdrecorders/sansui-vrdvd4005/372 disagreed as to whether it's possible to play DVD-R's recorded on this player on other recorders.
I have been able to do so on at least one other brand, but only after finalizing the DVD per directions in one of the commments on the above link. However, please note that you must finalize after you complete the recording, not as part of the formatting before you record.
Note that we were using a DVD-R not RW. It might work the same for an RW.

You have to finalize a disc recorded on any recorder before it will be playable on other hardware.
