Hi,
The video film aspect of which i am filming in is 4:3. I capture with Premiere, then output Avi's to TMPGenc (new version ) then finally author with DVDit.
Here is my question.
The majority of TV's these days are widescreen therefore when you play 4:3 edited and authored DVD video on them, they do not take up the whole screen.
Is it possible to change this in TMPGenc, Premiere or DVDit, so that the final production will fill the whole screen without strething faces?
Thx

I'm going to take an educated stab at this.
16:9's as you may or may not know are encoded with black bars at the top and bottom. When you see these films on tv there is only one bar at the top and bottom that you can see. In reality there are two at the bottom and the top. One from the film and the other is fill from the TV.
What I would do is capture in 4:3. But when I encoded it I would use a 16:9 display. In tmpgenc there is a filter to trim the movie of those black bars. When encoding proceeds it gets rid of all those bars in the 4:3 and encodes to 16:9. When you play the result back it should be just a 16:9 with no bars.
Try a sample encode and see if this works.
