    i find that the sound is abit low when i have converted it to divx.when i play it through my stereo i have to have the volume so loud

    I use Virtual Dub to adjust volume during conversions; under the audio pulldown menu go to "Volume..." and you can adjust it up or down there, then save it as a new AVI (it should be fairly quick if you have video in direct stream copy).
