I saw this hack below which supposedly works for making the LG DR 787T region free:

    https://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks/lg-dr787t/8193#28006

Does anyone know if this works? I see special vendors in the US selling this LG model for $399 as region free (over twice the retail price of the regular "unhacked" version) which suggests it needs a hardware fix to be made region free and not this simple software fix suggested on this weblink?

Also, this follow-on weblink below tells you to burn folder 'RMTM0000' to a CD-R but when I downloaded the zipped files referred to the only file that appears available for burning is titled "kpjc19-1.dvd" (DVD File)? Where is the RMTM0000 folder?

    http://aiwaownersnetwork.tripod.com/pages/lg/5000_series_firmware.html

So I would be grateful if someone could tell me if this technique above is a secure way to make the LG DR 787T region free and if not, if there is any other way

    With thanks

  2. [s:320f5426a1]Download [/s:320f5426a1]the zip file (first link on the page) : Do NOT open the file
Then unzip it to your hard disk (C: drive)
Then burn the folder, and all its contents to a CDR. (rmtm0000 etc)
Then insert the cdr into your player, then press 0 (zero)
wait for the player to power off.
    Done -- dusted --
