  1. Hi,

I'm new to authoring. My capture card lets me save my analog camcorder video to mpeg-2. I saved it under
480*480 res. The file that is created is fine so is the video.

I then used tmpgenc to convert it to .mpeg format.

I then used vcdeasy to create the cd in svcd type format.

When I play the mpeg on my pc the sound comes in and out mostly out. Video is fine.

When I play the cd that was created by vcdeasy the the video works fine but the sound doesnt match and is missing a lot of sound. (I'm assuming the mpeg convertion messed up the sound )

My question is do I have to convert the orginal mpeg-2 file to mpeg in the first place? If I'm doing the right thing why isnt my sound matching the video and for the most part not playing at all.

I do have a burner with software that is supposed to burn directly to svcd from mpeg2 but didnt work right so I tried the above first.

    Appreciate any help,

    Thanks
    Scott

  2. You need nero (trial at www.nero.com). Then you just tell it you want to create an svcd, and drag the mpeg-2 files from the browser on the right into the burn window on the left, and create the cd...it's that simple.

  3. Maybe, maybe not. All things being equal Nero sucks at encoding and burning SVCDs First a few questions:

You said you captured as 480x480 MPEG2. Are you sure? If so you should be able to burn it directly to SVCD (no need to re-encode w/ TMPGenc). WHATS THE FRAME RATE? Long story short only 29.97fps works (23.976fps w/ the pulldown/3:2 flag also works)

What settings did you use in TMPGenc? Did you just load the NTSC SVCD template and encode, or what?

If your captured MPEG is really MPEG2 make sure the frame rate is correct, then burn it as a SVCD (use either VCDeasuy or if you muse nero).

  4. .

If you captured as 480x480 MPEG2, then remultiplex it with (S)VCD Settings with TMPGEnc.

Launch TMPGEnc and select File->MPEG Tools and select Simple Multiplex. Select Type MPEG-2 SuperVCD select your mpg as video and audio input and select out and hit Run to make a new working mpg file.

  5. my bad...I assumed that the mpeg-2 files were already in a format good for svcd, which I guess may not always be the case. I just assumed that everyone captured in avi and then converted to mpeg with the intention of making an (s)vcd, since real-time mpeg capturing without a hardware encoder produces bad quality results even with a top-end P4. If you don't have svcd suitable mpegs, as the previous posts say, remultiplex with TMpegEnc and then write as before using nero.

  6. Thanks for the help, using the functions in vcd seem to have helped some. I guess ill try saving the orginal video under avi instead of mpg to see what
quallity i get out of it. Im buying a new computer this month my old one cant do real time to great. Finally a reason to upgrade.
