  1. Can anyone tell me about the VideoCD 2.2 standard? It was introduced in 1997 as VCD-Internet, and would allow a VideoCD to contain a link to a web page on the disk or on the internet.

  2. I found this at : http://www.licensing.philips.com/information/cd/video/ :

    VIDEO CD Internet Guidelines
These guidelines are intended to specify how to link a Video CD to WWW home pages. They apply to Video CD Discs, which contains URL addresses for linking to WWW home pages. (Latest version 1.0, April 1997.)
    I don't know if this'll help.

By the way, I can't edit my poll to fix my typo...

  3. All I can tell you is that this was never really adopted... I doubt very much that you can find any hardware player (except for perhaps prototypes) that can use the internet extensions or even software players that can play this as intended.

As for authoring the things, I haven't got a clue...

The CDI players with a modem can use them.

Since most DVD players can do the same with embedded links in their menus, it might happen.

Jet Audio "claims" to be a full featured VCD player.

Video Pack's VCD player uses hot links for the menus, it might be able to also.

  5. Every once in a while, I'll download an MPG that when I play it, it'll open an Internet Explorer window and go to a certain page. Is this the same thing? Is there a way to disable that, and how would you embed the html autolink into the MPG?
