  1. I've just taken the DVD722 because this DVD player was one which is supporting the SVCD and MP3 standards together with the VCD ect..So at this point I've created my own SVCD using the TMpeg and Nero.
I've to say that the video quality and the sound are OK but once a while the image stop on TV, the player mades some retry and if it can recover the problem it starts again repeting the last 1 o 2 second, otherwise it goes into a loop.
Initialy I thought about a CD media problem so I've tried 2 o 3 different brands, but without fix it. I've bought a DVD KIT cleaner .. no change. Than I've given those SVCDs that I've created to a couple friends of mine who have the deawoo players, and they works just fine.
I've see in DVD player compatibily section that some one has the 722, saying that it works just fine with their SVCDs.
My question is: Did i made some thing work making the SVCD?
I've contacted philips as well for this, and they told me that they do not garantiee SVCD recordable, but original SVCD only....!!!well I'm not sure if it's possible to find this SVCD "original" some where..
I will appreciate any your help Ciao Stefano

  2. update:
Last night I've used VCDEasy, looking here it seams more effectiveness for burning VCD and SVCD. I've to say that now the FF/FB are working (with nero didn't work), But my original problem is still there even using the VCDEasy.
Please any your comment will be appreciated Ciao

  3. Hei!, No many people seams interistied about my problem.
Well, I'll keep this post updated as far as i have some info to add, hopping to find somelse that have the same problem, and why not, having already the way to fix it.

The news is that I've bring the DVD722 to the philips repair center expling my problem with SVCD (hei it's still in warranty..hehe), they kept it for about 10 days and they given it back saing that they have changed the lens (this is what they wrote on the paperwork they give me).
But once i've been home I've tried my SVCD nonthing changed the same problem...I'm going to call them back!.
In the meantime I've tried the same SVCD on DVD711 of a friend of mine, it've got the same problem.. I reming you that i've tested on philips 951 and those SVCDs work fine. It seams to be realated on those models only.
However I've done the follwing tests: I've created a SVCD from my home video coming froma ditital camera, importing the movie using the Pinnaclesys Studio 7 and creating the AVI file with indeo compressor. Than I've used TMpeg and VCDeasy to create the SVCD. The resolt is that this SVCD of 17minutes it's working correctly, it never had that problem.
So if inthis case i do not have this problem it may be for two reason
1.)The SVCD is too short..then I'll generate a longer one
2.)The software that I'm using before the TMpeg for ripping it's not good for the DVD722. Actually I'm using the decriper V3.0.0.8 and dvd2avi..next I'll using decripter 3.0.0.9 and the falskmpeg with panasonic plugin 2,51 (encode stand alone).

I'll let you know my test as soon as i have done, even if you should like to share with some of you who have one of those players
    Ciao

Should this post moved to DVD ripping forum??
