Pproject: Harvest some exceptionally clean "Future Boy Conan" PAL rips off eMule, throw away the Russian dub first track, edit in some English subtitles, and give 'em to my nephews.

Problem #1: The Eng subs are stripped from a fan-release in which two episodes (crappy quality, or I'd just keep them) were joined into one CD-length file. I'm clueless on how to edit subtitle files to yank every second episode down to the correct time after wiping the first half of the text. (I *ass*ume this is not difficult, and just need a pointer to the right editors.)

Problem #2: The Eng subs start with the happy Conan & Lana singing & running second intro, not the depressing "Earth blows up" first intro (many encoders clip this first intro).

...Ideal solution: Clip "Earth blows up" (which I dislike anyway); mux in subtitles.

Problem #3: I cannot get any of my oodles of muxers to properly open and edit the AVC1/AC3 combo. (Ideally I'd like to do both simultaneously, preferably at an existing video key frame between first and second intros, and stream-copy.)

Problem #4 (purely optional): Cram 'em into AVI (or whatever other container works) so the brats can SAP.

Problem #5 (purely optional, and yes, I am wearing my tasseled dunce-cap for this question): Is there any way to get soft-subs to "force play" either SAP or in VLC/WMP/etc?
