Open the mpg file in g-spot (latest version) and find out what sort of audio it is.

You need an appropriate AC3 filter to get the audio, however why it plays in WMP and not PowerPoint is strange. Personally, I find that PowerPoint is most comfortable with WMV, so if you can, try converting it and using the WMV version instead.

SUPER can do it, although I would try Windows Media Encoder first. It's a free download from Microsoft.

There are a few guides for the program at the bottom of it's toolpage: https://www.videohelp.com/tools/Windows_Media_Encoder

And no doubt MicroSoft has some available. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/forpros/encoder/faq.aspx

It also has some help files within the program.
