What’s the average salary for an avid certified user? as of right now, according to avids list of certified users on its sites registry, there are only like 52 or something IN THE WORLD. Doe’s this mean it is very hard to get and valued or it is pointless to get and that’s why there are so few?

  2. Pointless...The place you work will judge your work regardless of how well you know Avid (editing?).

It's a different story if you're talking about repair or management of Avid systems, say the Unitity ISIS system. Knowing the ins and outs of that will help you out quit a bit during a job interview, that is if they use that system. It's also a very difficult system to know all the ins and outs

As businessman I can tell you if someone handed me certificate and the other guy hands me a nice portfolio I'm taking the guy with the nice portfolio even if he dropped out of kindergarten.

im saying as an added mark on my resume, in addition to an outstanding reel of course. you get to use the avid certified user logo in your resume if you get certified!

its easy to get certified. you just take a test, there are courses but they dont give you the test at the end, avid does. id imagine you could just take the test without the courses.

there is an avid certification to service thier software, i bet those dudes make bank! at that point youd probably work for avid themselfs.

    Define bank....

I did R&D on 2 of their systems. I don't consider myself as making bank.

    ^haha, shame.

i wonder what the average salary is for an avid certified user not because i think that being certified automaticly equals X amount of dollars but id imagine that the people who got certified are very avid proficiant and make a respectable amount regaurdless, but the certification is a nice benchmark to measure what an editor of X level of ability would make on average.

so i guess my "reel" question is how much does an avid editor make, a cable tv show or comercial editor lets say. i live within driving distance of manhattan, so i see adds on craiglist asking for avid editors on the regular. my buddy just started with a cable sports tv show production company as a logger, and he didnt even have a reel, just a degree. i never in my wildest dreams imagined that a getting a job in that field would be plausable, but hes proving me wrong.
