  1. Hello folks,
    thought I'd drop this bit of wisdom since I feel like such and idiot for
    not doing it sooner. If you haven't defragged your harddrive recently...
    do it. I defragged mine for the first time in a few months (which, considering how many file additions and deleltions occur during our
    various encoding projects, is a looooooong time) and suddenly all of
    my encoding programs jumped considerably in speed. Now I'm not
    talking twice as fast and TMPG is still too damn slow but it was a noticable
    increase on all encoders. So, although it's obvious and you all probably
    are religious about this, give it a shot and see if it doesn't help

    Another easier way to keep that speed if you have the room is to create a partition for just doing videos, that way when you are done you can just delete all the files and start with a fresh, clean partition.

  3. defrag? bah.. just format /u and reinstall your os .. thats the best thing to do

    or you can leave it fragmented to heck and get more memory and a faster cpu.. hehe

    Wanna tell me how you would get a faster pc by not defraging your hard drive. So when i do defrag my pc what the performance and speed up are all in my mind
