Please help me figure this out!! After I capture videos from my sony DVD handycam and create mpegs saved to MY VIDEOS, I then go to play the movies in ANY of the DVD players in my programs, and the audio disappears! BUT, when I use Sonic and burn the mpegs to a DVD disc, the audio is there. My daughter got a zune for Christmas and I have been trying to convert the mpegs in MY VIDEOS to WMV files for her, but, again the audio is missing. WHAT ON EARTH IS GOING ON?!?!

I think your problem is the AC3 audio from your DVD HandiCam. Try using VideoReDo to convert the audio to wave, then re-encode to WMV as before. Probably a free tool(s) for doing this, but I have VideoReDo, and therefore use it.

How do you capture the dvd to a mpeg? Try VOB2MPG and then convert to WMV.

I don't have a DVD HandiCam, but have been stuck with the job of working with a half dozen or so disk from a friends camera......fortunately for me the Sony Cam gave up the ghost before its first birthday. Just one more reason why I now buy no Sony hardware.

I have watched on the PC video he did with image mixer, and it looked fine. Not sure if it was WMV.

Do you have mpeg or VOB sets?

If you have VOB, do as already suggested and extract to one mpg2 using VOB2MPG. I can't find any options in my version for demuxing or converting the audio to LCPM/Wave.

Then open the mpg2 with VideoReDO>stop the playback>click on "Save As" (answer yes to the question)> click on "Options" in lower right hand corner>check "re-encode" audio and then select "LCPM/wave". I leave the output on Program Stream (works for me when encoding later to WMV). If that doesn't work, repeat all the above outputting to elementary streams.

VideoReDo is a fine, frame accurate editor. I suspect you have footage that you want to leave behind. If this tool does the job you asked about, give it a try at editing. For cut-editing and joining, I prefer working in scene mode.
