I have a capture card and a lot of options as to the format I can make my video. (mpeg(s), .wmv, .avi, etc). I choose .wmv because of the size. If I choose good quality with the others, the file is so much larger than .wmv.
My problem is that when I post my .wmv on the web a lot of people have trouble viewing it. I have told them to check their Active X settings, but that doesn't solve it. I figured if I converted the files to flash, everyone would be able to pickup the videos.
My questions are:
What is the best video file format to display on my website so that most people could view it?
If that is flash, can you point me in the right direction of a .wmv to .flv converter?
My videos are all less than 45 seconds in length. Do you have any reccomendations on how to get good quality videos, that aren't too large (trying to keep them under 10mb), and that most people can view without issue.
Thanks
KK

I believe decently-encoded MPEG-1 would be the best choice for you.
 320x240, 2-pass VBR @ max=2000 kbps can give you better-looking
results than most YouTube .FLVs. Just my NSHO of course.

.WMVs, .RMs, .MOVs and .MKVs are trouble, to say the least.
I do not like them. Many people simply turn their backs on *any*
Windows Media file simply because they don't want to look at
another boring DRM-warning again (OK, your .wmv files are not
DRM-ed, but many are, and these did contribute for the bad fame of
 Windows Media Video).

Here's one of the best quality free flv flash transcoder methods

 1) Google for VP6.4.2.rar . Download and install.

 2) Install Avisynth 2.57 or later

 3) Download the following script and unzip.
 wmv-flv-vp6_encoder.rar

 4) Place WMVs in same folder as unzipped script.

 5) Double click the .BAT file based on the Aspect Ratio of your source file - 16x9 or 4x3

 6) The window below will pop up. Choose VP6 Heightened Sharpness and click the "configure" button.

 7) Make sure you choose "1 pass", as in the highlighted section below.

8 ) When completed, you'll find the encoded FLV file in the same folder as the source

 And Voila...
