  1. I want to convert avi files to mpg2, and there for i have to extract the sound... because if i don't i will hear no sound... BUT if i do it with virtualdub (save wav) the sond is not synced... and if i decompress the sound with a program (decompress.exe) of avi2vcd the movie starts to freeze...

what pogram do you use? or do you have any tips???

  2. I use tmpeg with scmpx plugin, then mux using bbmpeg. bbmpeg has delay settings for a/v.

maybe sometimes audio bitrate may cause sync problems if the total a/v bitrate is over standard vcd or svcd. playback depends on your dvd player.

    you get it here:
    http://www.soundtrackers.de/mp3.html

mux = "putting video and audio together"
    demux is splitting them up.

I always convers .avi, video and audio seperte.

when i have the mpv(i use CCE) and the mp2(lame) i mux in BBmpeg. then burn

ie you only have to mux if you do a/v seperate.

  7. The reason for encode a/v separately is because it's faster. I dunno the inner workings of encoders, but i like to think that coverting vids lets the cpu concentrate on vid tasks. audio encoding doesn't seem to need high cpu times. muxing (combining) the a/v is fast in bbmpeg.

  8. but doesn't mux affect the quality of the video, or the audio???
