I am in the UK and wanting to play DVDs from the US.

I have used DVD Region Killer, AnyDVD and DVD43 but they don't work.

Is it true that you can get hold of a firmware flash for your drive which lets you play DVDs from any region?

I have used both AnyDVD and DVD43 in the past, and they do work.

The best solution is to find a hacked firmware for your device. This will remove the region codes, rip locks etc, and often adds extra burn speeds and things.

  3. I flashed my drive using a firmware from www.rpc1.org , they have a firmware for your drive (UJ-820S) but you'll have to check for yourself if it's truly region free. Also, flashing your drive requires some caution and knowledge.

I just checked on the RPC1.org website but they had no firmware flash available for my drive.
I am using as a trial version of DVD-region-css free and testing that out.
Even that gives me a "Media Read Error".

I guess this means I am completley stuck unless I want to shell out $40. Even then I don't know if any software would worK.

Is there some kind of toshiba special page?
