  1. Hey need help i have been looking at this

    http://www.buffalotech.com/products/multimedia/linktheater-dvd/linktheater-wireless-g-...sive-scan-dvd/

    then i found this
    http://www.mvixusa.com/

I was hoping i could find a dvd player that you could hook up an external hard drive and have the dvd player play files(like divx etc etc) from the hard drive. Ive been doing some research and some philips dvd players are suppose to be able to do this but there are problems when trying to get it to work. I dont want to set up and htpc nor try to stream it thru a wireless/wired network. All i wnt to do is to take some device attach it to my computer to only upload the videos and then keep it attached to the tv. Does anyone know of a dvd player that this can be done on. Thanks for any help

I really have no idea. MVIX had talked about sending me a product demo in the past, but they never followed through. It's supposed to be a feature-rich HTPC, but I only know what they have written on their site.

I don't think Buffalo actually makes anything, they just re-brand other products, so you'll want to learn more about that device.

I use a hacked XBOX for my media center computer. But it has an internal hard drive, not an external. There may be a way to rig the controller port (USB1) connection to accept the drive, but I have a feeling that will be complicated, and you're wanting easy.

Personally, I'd e-mail MVIX and press them for more info.

Check out the standard definition players too:

I'm sure you can find some of those locally and at a better price, check with real computer shops, I don't mean CompUSA or Best Buy and the likes.

  6. There is a big topic on Philips 5960's & using HDs. Just plug in the front of the machine.
