Hi all,
I'm new in video editing suff. I was unable to found one solution on internet, that is, how to reduce picture noise on a AVI file. I've attached 1 snapshot of a AVi file, where you can easily see the picture quality is very poor. I want to get rid of these picture noises. Is there any way to correct these and how can reduce these picture noises...?
Please ... H E L P ...

If that's a true example of the file, you don't really have anything to work with. If you filter it, you will likely lose further quality and end up with a softly blurred video. If you filter it, you will likely lose further quality and end up with a softly blurred video.

But anything is possible. And welcome to our forums.

From an academic standpoint, compression artifacts and their correction have been extensively studied, but until now, there haven’t been many tangible solutions for the end-user.

Algolith is one of the first to provide a proprietary real-time solution to mosquito noise and blocking artifacts: Algolith’s MNR – MPEG Noise Reducer.

Algolith’s MNR is a highly automated, autonomous, efficient and non-iterative technique for post-processing DCT compressed images and is the fruit of more than 10 years of algorithmic research and development.

MNR implements four distinct image processing techniques:

 1 - Per-pixel temporal recursive noise reduction,

2 - Mosquito noise reduction using sophisticated segmentation techniques,

3 - BAR – Block Artifact Reduction by detecting, blending and diminishing inherent block structures of DCT block-based compression,

4 - Multiple user adjustable image enhancement options using nonlinear filtering.

The essence of the MNR resides in its spatial image analysis module. Each pixel is classified into specific regions of interest; edge, texture, flat and artifact areas are all distinguished. It also looks into the temporal domain to discern motion areas of the picture. Combining all this information determines one of many different filters to be applied.

Thank you all for your quick reply....

This is mainly from a video clip which is from TV [ a huge .mpg file ] with very bad picture quality. I converted to smaller size with DivX and result is more worst.

I still have the .mpg file. So, is there any way to get some detail back and the convert to DivX...? Is there any good software...? I tried to work with Virtual Dub, but I couldn't get heads or tails out of it.

 Can anyone help me please .... . . . . .

VirtualDub is good software. You need to read some guides and experiment. Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

Virtualdub filters I suggest for this task:

 (follow the order)

deinterlace unfold (even if the source isn't interlace)
 MSU Smartdeblocking 0.8
 Video Denoise 2.0 (default)
 deinterlace (fold)
Static Noise Reduction ( default )
 Dynamic Noise Reduction ( 3 )
MSU_Smart Sharpen (experement a bit with the settings)

 OR

 MSU Smart deblocking 0.8
 Neatvideo

If you work with AVI type files, VirtualDub is well worth learning. 8) I prefer VirtualDub Mod because it can also accept MPEG video. I like the audio handling better also.

If you look to the bottom of the VirtualDub tool page, you will see a few guides for the program.

 https://www.videohelp.com/tools/Virtualdub

You can also go to VirtualDub.org for documentation for the program: http://www.virtualdub.org/

 And if you need filters:

 http://www.thedeemon.com/VirtualDubFilters/

 http://neuron2.net/

A few video and audio codecs. You don't have to necessarily use these, but they are useful at times:

 AC3 ACM Decompressor

 Alparysoft Lossless Video Codec

 Cedocida DV Codec

 DivX Codec

 HuffYUV

 Lagarith Lossless Video Codec

 Lame MP3

 XviD Codec

 Good luck.

Thank you all for you advices....

I tried to work with VirtualDub with NeatVideo filter. It works a bit better but I can't do it more the 30 min. And one thing more, the output result of the file is over 9 GB for 30 min and the video runs very slow.....

Can anyone tell me a how to solve now ... ?
