  1. I have a problem...

when i'm converting a divx movie to Mpeg1 (VCD) with the program TMPGenc, option PAL. I get a (sort of) pause after each keyframe (about 2/3 seconds) its very short and almost not noticable, but it is there.. and it bugging the crap out of me!!

But when i encode with NTSC or NTSCFilm... it's not there..

    i choose the standard Video-cd PAL / NTSC /NTSCFilm template's

    ...

Although my DVD player playes both, PAL and NTSC, i find PAL better quality..

    pppppppppppllllllleeeeeeeaaaaaaassssseeeeeee help me..
as long as my boss thinks i make a lot of money, i will pretend to work hard ;)

  2. You can't just select a Template, you must make sure the Template fits the file you want to encode, if your file is 23.97 or 29 or 30 fps, then use NTSC or NTSC Film, if your file is 25fps then use PAL, and only for that type.

There is also the resolution, NTSC/Film use 352x240, and PAL uses 352x288, so make sure you match the AVI and the Template, or it will cause you those problems.

  4. You could either use the NTSC Film, or you could use that 3:2 Pulldown with regular NTSC, both might work (I could be wrong on the pulldown, I always mix it with the other one, I think telecine).

I have had this problem when converting NTSC DVDs to PAL XVCD.
I fixed it by deinterlacing. I forgot which option I used but play around with them and make some short sample to test which one works. Try also changing the "field order" in settings>advanced.
