As in:
Ponder if I were to encode a video file from the same source in 382x176 with the same bitrate with both profiles. Would the output files differ in any way noticable to the naked eye?

No, they wouldn't look different, although I don't believe 5.0 can handle 382 as the width. I think 320 is the limit, at least that's what I recall. Check it out to be certain.
