Hi
I have a live video setup (cameras, monitors, MX1 mixer, DVD input, VGA input via VGA - S Vid converter) used for recording Church services.
We have just purchased a Sony 160GB HDD/DVD recorder. When we record or examine the output of the recorder on a monitor or look at the DVD we can see a vertical band moving across the screen at varying rates.
The Mixer apparently sorts out any Time Base Correction.
Any ideas on what might be causing this interference would be appreciated.
Please see attached schematic
Cheers
Bruce

I would check a new recorder by itself to see it does not have the problem straight from the factory. Then I would reinsert it back in the system and one by one shut down equipment to see if one or more is the source of interference or do it in reverse and turn equipment on one by one until you find the interference appears. Once the source or sources are identified then there is the matter of determining if the interference is conducted via power lines or interconnects or radiated.

Move the DVD recorder away from other equipment.
Or, disconnect the inputs to see if the band goes away.

If that doesn't work, turn off other equipment one at a time until the band goes away to ID the source of the problem.
