  1. Ok, had my first bash with chapters last night. My previous method for creating SCD was just with Nero, and hence the FFWD and REWD didnt work aswell as there being no chapters.

So, i tried VCDEasy, which seems great and very easy to use. For some reason though i cant get it to burn direct to my CD writer. Nor can i get CDRWin to work.

Infact, CDRWin just blue screens my PC when i try to run it.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how i could get these 2 progs to work? My setup is...

    AMD 1.33Ghz
    Win 2k
    Plextor 24X CD Burner (BurnProof)

My final solution was to burn the cue/bin with Nero (but i thought this didnt work?) and it seems to be fine....the disc plays in my standalone and all the features are there.

One thing i would like to know, If anyone can point me in the right direction. I love having chapters and the ability to move through the movie, is there any way when making the bin/cue files in VCDEasy to add Pictures? I would like to have a title pic at the front of my movie and a pic after the movie that says insert disc 2 etc etc.

Any pointers here would be great.

    Thanks.

  2. The newest version of Nero may have had the CUE/BIN burning problem of old fixed...

VCDEasy doesn't let you do the additonal stuff, but it is just a GUI of VCDImager and you can definitely do it with that.

TSCV is another GUI that has more features so you may want to try that.

Or, you may want to have a crack at authoring the VCD with VCDImager manually (undoubtedly the most powerful and flexible way)...

For some articles on authoring with VCDImager:

  3. Thanks alot for the info, Ill look into it.

    Another quick question...

It looks like the fast forward and rewinfd problem with nero can be overcome just by copying scandata.dat to the ext directory. I assume that all teh stuff, like chapters, pictures etc work in a similar way.

Does anyone know of any guide which details the structure of a SVCD so i could maybe do it on my own?

ie make up some file that details chapters and stick it in the right directory in nero?

    Thx.

I guarantee you figuring out how to generate xml and feed it to VCDImager is the way to go. Read those tutorials of vitualis and get the xml manual with VCDImager. It's all there.
