  1. Hello! I'm wondering if anyone else has any experience with burning these to DVD-ROM for playing on a stand-alone player, a Philips DVP-5960. I've got about nine XviD avi's, whch my player has never had a problem with, but it seems to become confused whenever more than one srt or sub file is included; the first set in the series works fine, but it doesn't seem to recognize any subtitles for any subsequent avi's. I recall the conventional wisdom used to be that you would put an avi with matching subtitle file name in a folder and burn that to a disk, but at the moment, at least, I seem to be getting the best results with putting both an avi and the subtitles (either SubRip -- srt, VobSub -- sub/idx, or SubViewer -- sub) in the root directory of the burned disk.

Does anybody out there know how to avoid this problem with multiple avi's and multiple srt's? I was thinking I might have to put each of the nine avi's and corresponding/matching srt's into a separate folder, and burn the nine folders to the root directory. I could try it and find out, but I'm wondering if there's any glaringly obvious thing that I'm missing here that one of the more experienced members could spot and point out.

    Thank you!

I haven't used the 5960, but on my 642's and my Oppo's, I keep all of the files in the root of the disc. Just ensure the movie and sub file(s) are using the same name.

    movie 1.avi & movie 1.srt
    movie 2.avi & movie 2.sub
    ...etc.
