I would like to know if there is software out there that would allow me to perform disk spanning to where I can burn my long mpeg files to more than cdr. I want to transfer my old vhs movies over to vcd format. But the length is too long for just one cdr (80min). Right now, I've been capturing video with the ads instant dvd system (not a bad system for those who heard about it). And instead of capturing the entire video on one file, I have to create two files. I'm using the Nero demo I download here on your site, but it doesn't offer disk spanning. Any suggestions?

  2. I usually use the Merge&Cut utility in TMPGEnc to manually cut the MPEG file (VCD spec) into desired size of chunks. Still cannot find any CD-R spanning software for VCD...

I don't believe such a feature has ever been programmed

Usually people just cut or set a capture limit

  4. Use VCD Cutter once you have your MPEG. TMPEG is for lamers as it allows you the option of cutting at say 695 megs but people use that option and if you see one of their VCDs, then the VCD can stop at an action part or where an important dialogue is.

Just open the MPEG find a suitable end point, mark it and cut. It will give you a time guide as well so you know just how much to cut and how much not too.

  5. Before you call a whole section of the VCD community "lamers" make sure you at least your information is correct... or you'll look like one yourself.

TMPGEnc in fact does not allow you to cut by size, but rather by time. Furthermore, as it allows you to advance in fractions of a second, you can view to exactly which frame you want the cut to be. With my PAL MPEGs (i.e., 0.04 seconds per frame), I can cut to frame accuracy.

Now, it is true that many people do have problems with the cutter in TMPGEnc but you might as well try it first...
