Headphones to coaxial TV?

What is cheapest way to connect standard headphones to a coaxial cable only TV?
TV has no audio outputs. And I have no VCR. No cable box either.

Sometimes, you can take your item to radio shack and they can solder a bit for you and set you up...they did me once.

What about a settop dvd recorder? you could use rca-to-headphone jack adapter on the stereo outputs. The reason I say dvd recorder instead of a player is becuase the recorders have the input and output for coax cables.

Other than that your options seem to be limited. Or get a computer capture card and hook it up to the computer and listen that way???

You could get a VCR or DVD recorder upstream and use its audio outputs and tuner to change channels. If those devices don't have headphone out then get a headphone system that accepts normal RCA input (red/white). Many wireless headsets accept RCA high impedance audio in.

Or just get another TV with a headphone jack.

I suppose there isn't a device that has the same inputs/outputs as a VCR
(coaxial in/out, audio out), but without the tape recording and without TV tuner?

Having a hard time find it, as I don't have a name for it.

Why not get a dvd recorder? You can get them for under a 100.00 now and they are pretty versatile. (always handy to have an extra dvd player anyway - and you can pick a model that plays divx too for more versatility if you don't already have one).

You need the tuner or you can't change channels.

Another obvious alternative is a cable box + headset that takes RCA plug.


PS: If your problem is hearing loss, there are headphone boosters like this one that can use a microphone near the TV speaker.

If you use the microphone you can't mute the TV speakers.
