  1. I have done a bit DV editing and DVD authoring in the past with Adobe software and VirtualDub. But never done this conversion before. My task is to delete the a few frames from it and then convert it to DivX-encoded AVI.

    I've got a MPEG2 file. MPC is showing the following information.

    Video: MPEG2 Video 480x576 (4:3) 25.00fps 10035Kbps [Video]
    Audio: MPEG Audio 44100Hz stereo 224Kbps [Audio]
    Subtitle: DVD Subpicture [Subtitle]

    VirtualDub won't open it (MPEG2).

    I could not figure out a Premiere setting. I can get audio and fps right. But 480x576 at 4:3 makes no sense there.

    What tool should I use? Any guide?

    Thanks!

  2. Looks like VirtualDub MPEG2 is more recent. Will try. Thanks!

    Resize to a 4:3 resolution like 512x384. Filters->Resize.

  4. Does it mean that there is no way to save aspect ratio in AVI file?

    It is, but many players ignore it. Best to assume square pixels.
    Once did a 352x576 4:3 mpg to AVI with AutoGK. Ended up with a 352x576 AVI. Was sure it'd play back distorted, but actually played back @ 4:3 on my standalone player. Plain luck, I'd say.
