I bought a "Smart TV Card" - 713x BDA Analog Capture - (maybe it wasnt so smart with instructions that don't match - says I should have SincVideo PCI 2309 ) and it came with Intervideo Win DVR 3.
I am assuming it is OEM since it was bundled, but it did have a serial number.

Anywho, after installation I scan the channels (comcast cable) and I only get two channels - 5 and 6. The s-video input seems to work fine.

Is this a limit of the OEM software or is there something I can do? It did not install the iEPG, is this my problem?

I have no manufacturer to contact.

    TIA

Are you connected to the cable input or the output of a comcast set top box?

If you are direct to the cable input you probably have to change the tuner mode to the appropriate mode for CATV. This probably requires software specific to your card.

If you are connected to the cable box, one channel is the box output and you need to change channels with the box.

Thanks for the reply. I am using the direct coax input, no box. I havent tried it with the box yet - didnt think of it as I don't use the box on any of my cable ready tv's.

My only choices in the Win DVR 3 are TV, Svideo and composite.

So, using just the direct cable input I need different software or an add-on for Win DVR 3.

    Suggestions - and thanks again.

buzzsaw, up until yesterday I had the identical situation that you have:

Live in the USA (NTSC), Comcast Cable, Connect the RF cable directly to the capture
card (no Cable box), up to date drivers Etc. only getting channels 5 & 6.

Solution to the problem? In WinDVR 3.0 make sure that not only is the tuner set for CABLE but also for the Country or Origin setting (on the same page) you choose USA [HRC CABLE]

It did not install the iEPG, is this my problem?
I canceled when it asked for iEPG(Electronic Program Guide). I will experiment with it in the next day or two.

Good luck and let us know how it worked

That did it - HRC Cable.

Thanks much - hopefully helps the next person as the installatin guide was utter crap.

Funny - I didn't even get prompted for the iEPG.
