Which tvtuner/video capture software (free or pay for windows xp media center 2005 with update rollup 2) besides ATi MMC supports recording cropped tv, that is according to the ATi software taking out the bottom and top interference which I get with my vcr hooked up to my tv tuner card composite and playing vhs tapes and recording the rest of the screen.

The interfaerence that you see at the top and bottom of the screen is overscan. This is not visable on a regular TV set.
To minimize the intererence make sure that the VCR is tracked correctly.

VCR tracking won't help that only adjusts the entire picture (grainy, scratchy, etc.). Anyways, the solution I found was to that to get rid of the top and bottom interference is use the cropping filter of whatever tv tuner/video capture software you are using whether it be the software or the video codec it might be using. If the software doesn't allow for it then it is no good. I have just spent some time configuring this and found out how to do it. Thank you Windows Media Encoder 9 and its cropping presets. Anyways you probably have to adjust cropping for each video you view and depending on output size as well. Just compare to original video. Also, I guess a good size to start out with would be 10 on top and 10 on bottom.
