    Hello all,

I have a mpg file that I ripped from a DVD. I wanted to run this video as the background on my desktop, but the video doesnt scale correctly. Most likely, because it is widescreen. I would like to convert this video so that it can be maximized on my desktop. Here is the Media Info for my video:

    General #0
    Complete name : D:\campfire.mpg
    Format : MPEG-2
    Family : MPEG-2
    File size : 1.17 GiB
    PlayTime : 59mn 49s

    Video #0
    Codec : MPEG-2 Video
    Codec settings : CustomMatrix
    PlayTime : 59mn 49s
    Bit rate : 2376 Kbps
    Bit rate mode : CBR
    Width : 480
    Height : 480
    Aspect ratio : 4/3
    Frame rate : 29.97 fps
    Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.344
    Delay : 19203

    Audio #0
    Codec : MPEG-1 Audio layer 2
    Bit rate : 224 Kbps
    Bit rate mode : CBR
    Channel(s) : 2 channels
    Sampling rate : 44 KHz
    Resolution : 16
    Delay : 19203
    Video0 delay : 0

Can anyone tell me what program I need and what I need to do to convert this video?

    Thanks!

Some flavours of Vista can do it, as can VLC. Try setting the aspect ratio flag in the file (restream might be able to do this for you) to see if it helps.
