    hello,
i have p4 2ghz with 512 ram running on win xp pro sp2
i'm using virtualdub and adobe premiere elements

i'm trying to make a video clip that would look like in the early 90s. what i mean by that is that i have someone playing the piano, and i want him and the candles around him to sort of glow. i tried few filters in virtual dub such as blur, contrast and motion blur, but still it's not exactly what i want.
do you have any suggestions? maybe a certain plugin i should download?

another thing is, when i wanted to try how those filters would look like, i edited in virtualdub a small piece (15 sec), but i can bearly play it correctly because it's 450mb, so it lags a little (the computer red light is on all the time during the playback).
i can see generally how it looks like, but i can't see it perfect. is there a way to solve this? should i convert it to xvid? (that would take a really long time)
if i try to edit it in adobe premiere elements anyway, would the final output AVI be fine?

    thanks!
    tom

  2. For playback tests use something like HuffYUV (fast, lossless but only a little compression), MJPEG (fast, selectable quality/compression), XVid (single pass, constant quantizer, motion search precision = 0, VHQ = 0), or Divx (realtime profile).
