no matter what burning software i use and how long the svcd is whenever i burn it and play on my standalone dvd player it plays and shows no more than 40 mins
any1 know how to fix this or what software to use?

What software have you used? If your SVCD is 55min long, it's not a SVCD but an xSVCD, are you sure you stand alone supports xSVCD (check list).
Here's something to try (can't hurt):
1) Demux MPEG w/ TMPGenc
2) Remux w/ bbMPEG
3) Author with either VCDEasy or TSCV, and burning w/ CDRDAO -
i used dvd2svcd to convert it so now i have 2 bin/cue files ready to burn... should i extract the mpg from these or burn them str8 with cdrao?
also i cant find my dvd player on the list
xms750 any1 know if it supports xsvcd? -
I was under the impression that having a lower average bitrate doesn't make an SVCD off-spec, i.e. there really isn't a limit to how many minutes you can try to fit on a CD.
