what does boilsoft report when you open it? any error msg?
or learn virtualdub, video->direct stream copy, audio->direct stream copy, CUT and file->save as a new dv-avi. -
Hi,
Its says: The format of [filename] can't be recognized.
Could it be a missing codec? My machine has a fresh XP Pro install and I didn't put any codecs on it.
This is annoying because I planned on transferring the entire mini-DVs from the camera to the computer, then using the Splitter to take out all the scenes I want, then encoding those scenes with WME.
I've found that my WMVs come out nicely when the source is an AVI preprocessed with AVISynth, and the Boilsoft Splitter is a perfect way to get the AVIs I want.
What should I do now?
Thank you. -
Why not split them in AviSynth using Trim.

Hi,
I would use the AVISynth Trim() function but I really need a graphical editor because I'll be taking lots of scenes out of the big AVI.
Maybe it's just that I need a codec ? Should I install the Panasonic or Canopus one ?
Or perhaps the Boilsoft isn't very compatible with different AVI types ?
Thanks. -
Then I'd go with what Baldrick suggested. Although I would use Virtualdub just to locate trim points and still use AviSynth. (But that's just me.)

It works now. All I had to do was install that Panasonic DV codec.
