  1. I cannot seem to get the same quality from computer based capture cards as I can from DVD recorders. I do not actually believe that it is impossible to use these capture cards and get as good if not better captures, what could I be doing wrong?

I use the same source hardware and have tried various vcr's etc,but every time the capture cards dissapoint.

All my hardware is listed in my profile and thank you as usual everyone for all your help.

    My own self help suggestions:-

1: Wrong settings, so what should they be?
    2: Defragmented hard drive?

Are you talking about TV captures or VHS captures? VHS captures often need a TBC for good capture card captures.

  3. yes I use mainly jvc 9911/8965 vcr and tbc1000 then onto the capture card, recently I have seen an amazing improvement in dvd recordings using rca conections rather than s video may be I should try that with the capture cards.
