i want to extract specific audio samples/clips from movies and was wondering what is the best software approach

up until now i have simply recorded the analogue outs from a standard dvd player, but i would rather avoid the extra ad/da conversion (and avoid using spdif/adat)

one of my main issues is that i dont want to extract/import the entire movie or chapter clips...
...just specific parts be it 5 or 10 seconds or whatever

idealy i would like to be able to:
-extract only desired clips (in turn not having to extract the whole 2 hour movie audio file to get a 5 secnd clip)
-extract digital wav. files directly from the internal pc dvd rom drive.
-have the option of extracting from other formats like avi, divx, wmp, etc.

im using pc + motu + cubase sx2

tried DVD Audio Extractor? I think you can set start and stop to rip out short clips.

and if you are ripping from commercial dvds use anydvd in the background to remove encryption.
